I'm going to begin by saying that when I say ¨me or I¨, I refer to all persons who feel labeled. I can obviously be label as an immigrant and as a dreamer because of my purpose in this journey and my legal status in this country, but I am really proud of the labels given to me by the American society. I have gain this labels with suffering and sacrifices made by me and my family. It's impossible to summarize what you have been through and get through when you have this labels over your shoulders. Yes, this is what makes me not an american resident or citizen, my story, my background, my root, my family, this is what makes me go under the category of not legal resident of U.S, this is that defines my present in the U.S and me as a person, my legal status, my legal label.
I might be an outstanding leader, obey the laws, an individual with positive revolutionary ideas, a problem solver, pay taxes, a critical thinker, swear allegiance to support and defend this country, an altruistic person and I might do everything that a citizen is suppose to do but the fact that my blood in from another place, it drops down all the my actions to the darkness. So, what is left is nothing but I want from this land and not what I give. Me, being a dreamer demonstrates me as person seeking education, stability, production, and land to build a good upcoming future, which is the situation that makes me be seen as taking advantage of ¨the land of opportunities¨. When it´s proven that we give more than what we take and I speak for my familia latina, china, filipina y africana, this our current status, not legally a citizen.
